Introduction A manufacturing company in Coventry which is using traditional management accounting has asked for advice on improving operational performance. Following we introduce two contemporary developments (target costing and customer profitability analysis) and detailed analyze customer profitability analysis. Target Costing versus Customer Profitability Analysis (CPA) Target costing is an aggressive profit and cost management strategy implemented in the earliest stage of new product development. Different from conventional cost plus pricing methods in which the managers decide the prices based on existing costs. Target costing takes a different approach to identifying the price, profit and effectively control cost. In this process, the functional design and pricing strategy of a new product will be planned before cost and profit accounting. As Figure 1 revealed, based on market research, the analysis of market competition and willingness of target customers in paying each function will be taken as two criterions guiding the design of products. The positioning and pricing should be closely linked to each other in order to engage the product in target groups. Afterwards, with the restriction of price, the profits and costs involved in manufacturing and selling will be balanced. The profit m argin, which is estimated from expected return of investment from shareholders, is an indicator for managers to determine the proportion of profits and costs. Life Through My Eyes Essay Example For Students
Life Through My Eyes Essay It was the day of my mums friend Junes wedding. Everything was fine and in place and it was a perfect sunny day. At the reception of the wedding I began to feel a pain around the back of my ribs. I thought I had just been hit there or something, so I took notice of it. I carried on with the day, talking and laughing. Feeling proud in my nice tartan kilt. When it got to dinner, it was about six oclock, I had a little bit of steak. It was nice and rare. I then started to feel sick. The pain was back, a sharp piercing pain. It felt like someone was slowly piercing my skin with a blade. The pain made me think about when my dad left us. To me the pain was the same, I missed him more than anything. Lifes evil I guess but you gotta deal with it. The party went on and I was feeling worse, I was pale white, white as a piece of chalk. We took a trip to Yorkhill Childrens Hospital later that night. The doctors immediately ran tests, I felt like I was in an experiment. I was constantly getting my bloods taken too. I was frightened that something serious was wrong, fear was stalking me and my thoughts were all over the place. Some time later the doctor came back with results, Harry you have Nephrotic Syndrome and its serious. I didnt know what it was but when I heard it was serious, my heart sank. I collapsed backwards onto the hospital bed in fear. Nephrotic Syndrome was a kidney disease, my kidneys were failing. I was treated very quickly and I was fine, Well I still felt like I went to hell and back. Who would have thought that so much of your life could be shattered at the age of three? I couldnt go abroad for nine years, I basically lived on steroids and had to go to the hospital nearly every week. Day after day I was at the hospital, It wasnt looking good, I had protein in my blood and I was taking in too much fluids. I hated being ill but loved it at the same time because I was always getting presents, It was like christmas every day. My kidneys played with me. I was fine for months then unwell for months. For years life was the same, in and out of the hospital constantly. I remember spending my birthday and New Years Day in hospital. I look back to then and feel lucky. When I was about eleven I had to get my finger pricked for bloods, In a cancer unit. It was for children and every week there would be a new patient, It was horrible. The children were always happy though and always fighting like mini versions of S. A. S in Afghanistan. When I was twelve, me and my mum were told that Nephrotic Syndrome was curable. It was a drip but it took two doses. To think that my disease could be cured felt amazing, I felt like I was on top of the world! When I got my first dose. I had to get a huge cannula, well what to me looked huge. It made me feel dizzy, sick and gave me a sore head. The eight hours id spent in hospital was paying off though. Life once again was the same as normal, just repetitive. During this time I felt lonely but I started to fit in at Rosshall and I realised I wasnt the only one who had to take regular medicine. There was someone else in the same year as me and their medicine and illness was very similar to mine. It felt great knowing someone else knew my pain. If i needed someone to talk to about it, I just turned to them, Life felt so much easier. A year and half or so later, I got my second dose of the medicine. Same as last time, nothing different or more interesting. So Im now here at this point in life, waiting

US History CR2 - Events Leading to the American Re Essays - Law
US History CR2 - Events Leading to the American Revolution Directions: Your answer must be a minimum of 5 complete sentences. Prompt: Pick any 3 of the items from the list below, and explain how each chosen event changed the American colonists' perceptions of Britain during the years 1763 to 1775. In other words, discuss how the event made American colonists think it was time for independence from Britain. Pick 3 from the following list to discuss: The French and Indian War (Seven Years War), The Proclamation of 1763, The Stamp Act, The Intolerable Acts, and Common Sense Response: The Proclamation of 1763, The Stamp Act, The Intolerable Acts, changed the American colonists' perceptions of Britain during the years 1763 to 1775. The Proclamation of 1763 was declared the same year as the 1763 Treaty of Paris, the treaty that ended The French and Indian War. The colonists help Britain with this Seven Years War over terrorist. After over 2,500 days of fighting a war, the colonists reaped no benefits. Parliament passed the Proclamation of 1763 in an attempt to prevent any more American colonists from settling beyond the Appalachian Mountains. The same land colonist were entitled to. The colonists fought alongside Britain against the French and Indians for this land, and they receive none of it. They lost their own people, sacrificed soldiers in terrifying battles of pure bloodshed, while the colonies were in its youth. Due to this, many colonists ignored this ludicrous proclamation. The proclamation is an extreme act of disrespect, demonstrating the colonists were only for Great Britain's personal gain, and nothing else. Shortly after the absurd Proclamation of 1763, the Stamp Act was established in 1765. The Stamp Act was a tax on every single piece of paper, a document, a newspaper, a letter, etc. This law required a stamp to be on the paper as proof of paying-paying with only hard currency was allowed. This act created widespread anger in the colonies. The colonists had no representation in Parliament. Thus , taxes imposed by Parliament on the colonies represented a violation of English civil liberties. In response, the Committee of Correspondence and the Sons of Liberty were created. Violent protests occurred, with murders of tax collectors, destruction of property, refusal of ships carrying stamps were denied entry, along with extremely efficient boycotts of British goods from many colonies. Including that, the stamp act was ignored by hundreds. The colonists were already deeply upset with the proclamation, and became frustrated with this new act. Not only did the British us e the colonists as pawns in a game of chess, did not give any reasonable benefits to the colonies after aid from the war, they did not let the colonists have any representation, the colonists went ignored and so did the ludicrous laws. The British response to the Stamp Act's impact on the colonists, the Intolerable Acts were created. There were five parts to the acts, the "Boston Port closed until the value of the destroyed tea was repaid, Massachusetts colonial government suspended and placed directly under the control of the royal governor appointed by the king, British officials accused of crimes would be tried in England rather than in Massachusetts, renewed the Quartering Act of soldiers in the colonies, Quebec Act expanded the border of Quebec into land claimed by other colonies". Britain neglected the colonies, and punished all efforts that displayed the colonies cries and pleas to be treated with proper rights. The colonists were aware actions had to be made, all efforts to be civil, all efforts to act out, have failed. The only option left to acquire the rights they wished for, was independence. The Proclamation of 1763, The Stamp Act, and The Intolerable Acts united the colonies to fight for independence from Britain.

World War 1 - A Short Timeline of 1915
World War 1 - A Short Timeline of 1915 Germany now plotted a change of tactic, fighting defensively in the West and trying to defeat Russia in the east quickly by attacking, while the Allies aimed to break through on their respective fronts. Meanwhile, Serbia came under increased pressure and Britain planned to attack Turkey. January 8: Germany forms a southern army to support the faltering Austrians. Germany would have to send ever more troops to prop up what became a puppet regime. January 19: First German Zeppelin raid on British mainland. January 31: The first use of poison gas in WW1, by Germany at Bolimow in Poland. This ushers in a terrible new era in warfare, and soon the allied nations join in with their own gas. February 4: Germany declares submarine blockade of Britain, with all approaching ships considered targets. This is the start of Unrestricted Submarine Warfare. When this is restarted later in the war it causes Germany to lose. February 7 - 21: Second Battle of the Masurian Lakes, no gains. (EF) March 11: The Reprisals Order, in which Britain banned all neutral parties from trading with Germany. As Germany was suffering a naval blockade by Britain this became a serious issue. The US was supposedly neutral, but couldnt get supplies to Germany if it had wanted to. (It didnt.) March 11 - 13 : Battle of Neuve-Chapelle. (WF) March 18: Allied ships attempt to bombard areas of the Dardanelles, but their failure causes the development of an invasion plan. April 22 - May 25: Second Battle of Ypres (WF); BEF casualties are triple those of Germans. April 25: The Allied ground assault begins in Gallipoli. (SF) The plan has been rushed, the equipment is poor, commanders who would later prove themselves act badly. It is a colossal mistake. April 26: The Treaty of London is signed, in which Italy joins the Entente. They have a secret agreement which gives them land in a victory. April 22: Poison Gas is first used on the Western Front, in a German attack on Canadian troops at Ypres. May 2-13: Battle of Gorlice-Tarnow, in which the Germans push Russia back. May 7: The Lusitania is sunk by a German submarine; casualties include 124 Americans passengers. This inflames US opinion against Germany and submarine warfare. June 23 - July 8: First Battle of Isonzo, an Italian offensive against fortified Austrian positi ons along a 50-mile front. Italy makes ten more attacks between 1915 and 1917 in the same place (The Second - Eleventh Battles of Isonzo) for no real gains. (IF) July 13-15: The German Triple Offensive begins, aiming to destroy the Russian army. July 22: The Great Retreat (2) is ordered - Russian forces pull back out of Poland (currently part of Russia), taking machinery and equipment with them. September 1: After American outrage, Germany officially stops sinking passenger vessels without warning. September 5: Tsar Nicholas II makes himself Russian Commander-in-Chief. This directly leads to him being blamed for failure and the collapse of the Russian monarchy. September 12: After the failure of the Austrian Black Yellow offensive (EF), Germany takes over ultimate control of Austro-Hungarian forces. September 21 - November 6: Allied offensive leads to Battles of Champagne, Second Artois and Loos; no gains. (WF) November 23: German, Austro-Hungarian and Bulgarian forces push the Serbian army into exile; Serbia falls. December 10: The Allies begin slowly withdrawing from Gallipoli; they complete by January 9 1916. The landing has been a total failure, costing a huge number of lives. December 18: Douglas Haig appointed British Commander-in-Chief; he replaces John French. December 20th: In The Falkenhayn Memorandum, the Central Powers propose to bleed the French White through a war of attrition. The key is using Verdun Fortress as a French meat grinder. Despite attacking on the Western Front, Britain and France make few gains; they also incur hundreds of thousands more casualties than their enemy. The Gallipoli landings also fail, causing the resignation of a certain Winston Churchill from British government. Meanwhile, the Central Powers achieve what looks like success in the East, pushing the Russians back into Belorussia...but this had happened before - against Napoleon - and would happen again, against Hitler. Russias manpower, manufacturing and army remained strong, but casualties had been huge. Next page 1916 Page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

The Recession-Proof Beauty of Healthcare Jobs
The Recession-Proof Beauty of Healthcare Jobs In a recent Time magazine article that highlighted ââ¬Å"The 5 Best Jobs Youââ¬â¢ve Never Heard Of,â⬠a remarkable four out of five were linked to the healthcare industry. In fact, healthcare jobs remain plentiful - even in the face of economic uncertainty. Letââ¬â¢s take a closer look at this phenomenon, along with which positions can expect to see particularly noteworthy growth in the years ahead. The State of HealthcareAccording to the most recent ââ¬Å"Employment Situation Summaryâ⬠from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare continued its juggernaut of job growth, adding 22,000 jobs in March 2015 alone. This brought the 12-month total to an additional 363,000, with ambulatory healthcare services and hospitals making particularly strong showings.A number of factors have contributed to this growth, including rising demand, retiring workers, and the ever-growing advancement of science and medicine requiring skilled technologists. No discussion of the chan ging face of healthcare is complete without acknowledging the massive impact of the aging Baby Boomer generation. Approximately 10,000 Baby Boomers turn 65 every day, and will continue to do so for the next 14 years. By 2030, meanwhile, nearly 20 percent of the U.S. population will be of retirement age.Not only does this represent a massive outflux of workers from healthcare positions, but it also constitutes a significant burden: the typical American over the age of 65 suffers from a number of chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Research further indicates that just five years from now, 5.6 million new healthcare jobs will exist in everything from pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing to nursing, community, and home healthcare facilities and services.Add in the increased number of insured Americans due to healthcare reform, and the need for more healthcare professionals becomes even more critical.Where the Jobs AreAccording to the Bure au of Labor Statistics ââ¬Å"Job Outlookâ⬠breakdown, the average anticipated growth rate for all occupations between 2012 and 2022 is 11 percent. U.S. News and World Report highlighted the top health care positions by Job Outlook,à including the following:Personal Care Aide: 48.8 percentHome Health Aide: 48.5 percentDiagnostic Medical Sonographer: 46 percentOccupational Therapy Assistant: 42.6 percentPhysical Therapist Assistant: 41 percentEsthetician: 39.8 percentPhysician Assistant: 38.4 percentMedical Secretary: 36 percentPhysical Therapist: 36 percentNurse Practitioner: 33.7 percentIn addition to these positions, emotional health professionals, including substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors and marriage and family therapists, are also expected to see significant gains in job openings due to declines in stigmas which previously prevented people from seeking help.Other healthcare jobs which will continue to be in demand include dentists, dental hygienists, p hysicians, pharmacists, medical equipment repairers, dieticians and nutritionists, radiologic technologists, epidemiologists, and opticians. If a challenging career which allows you to help people while also experiencing unprecedented job security sounds like a good fit to you, there are plenty of healthcare positions to choose from.

Renting Is Better than Buying Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Renting Is Better than Buying - Essay Example Renting an apartment remains quite economical as compared to buying one. With the passage of time, renting proves to be cheaper than buying an apartment. It is always advisable to make a cost-benefit analysis while deciding whether to buy or rent a home (Vij). Where renting a house costs an individual as much as $500 on the average, the same house may cost an individual between $1000 and $2000 per month in the form of mortgage that further gets factored to accommodate tax and insurance. Also, in the recent years, ââ¬Å"rents have barely budged while house prices in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and elsewhere have doubled, renting has become a surprisingly smart option for many people who never would have considered it beforeâ⬠(Leonhardt). Whenever an individual has enough money to invest, it is advisable to estimate the difference of the mortgage payment and the rent, and invest that sum into the stock market. Benefits of renting: Acquiring the loan for constructing a house is quite a lengthy and tiresome process. An individual is supposed to possess excellent credit and a considerable sum for making down payment. Good interest rate cannot be gained without a good investment sum. Buying a home requires an individual to owe the lender money for many years that follow. Renting the house provides the individual with the leverage to pay as long as he/she lives in it, and later decide as per convenience. When an individual owns a home, he/she essentially becomes responsible for all matters that concern the accommodationââ¬â¢s maintenance and appropriate functionality. ... When the sewer line in house damages, it is the ownerââ¬â¢s responsibility to fix it and bear all expenses. The plumber may need to dig up the earth in order to change the existing pipe or lay out a new one. Such activities consume a lot of money, which the owners have to pay. In comparison to that, people living on rent do not have to bear the additional expenses of maintenance and fixation. If something becomes faulty in a rented apartment, the renter makes a call to the owner to get that fixed, without having to pay for the job. Likewise, a person on rent does not have to pay for the maintenance of lawn or other areas of the house. The renter only has to compensate for the damages that have been caused by him/her. Renting a house does not require the renter to have insurance because of lack of ownership. All a renter is required to have at maximum is the ââ¬Å"renter insuranceâ⬠as it makes it cheaper for the renter. Taking all these factors into consideration, a working class employed person enjoys far more benefits in renting as compared to buying a house. An analysis in light of economic recession: In the contemporary age of economic recession, a lot of owners are selling their homes in order to meet their daily living expenses. The widespread economic recession has caused a lot of business entrepreneurs to downsize their workforce in order to minimize the overhead charges and maximize the profits. Renting proves to be the most convenient and flexible option for such employees, whose jobs are endangered and who can be fired any time by their employers. Such people want the facility to shift anywhere anytime as per the need of the employment. However, it is always advisable to acquire a short term lease in order to escape
